Traveling Exhibit: History in Motion
Date: May 26th – May 28th, 2017 – Memorial Day Weekend
Time: 8am-5p
Get an up-close and hands-on look at antique tractors in motion. The California Agriculture Museum will transport an early Best Tracklayer, Holt crawler, and the famous white Caterpillar 10 Exposition model from Woodland California to Rancho Santa Margarita. These tractors alongside hundreds of others owned by ACMOC - Antique Caterpillar Machinery Operators Club members - will parade at the Best of the West Show just like they would have at early equipment expositions to support marketing efforts. The museum’s traveling exhibit will showcase early marketing techniques that influenced the success and the production of early California mechanization. Audiences will have a rare opportunity to see these early engines in motion and to engage in conversations with collectors, early historians, and make a connection in history. What was it like over 100 years ago when California was a territory? What did it mean to replace draft horses with tractors? You’ll also see horse powered machines, trains, planes, and early engines.
Cost: Adults are $10 a day or $25 for the weekend, children are free.
