          In good neighborly fashion the barn was built by volunteers. We reasoned that for you to embrace the significance of tractors and harvesters in agriculture, you should understand the role of horses which was essential to farming and ranching in the 1800’s.  Horses pulled implements for cultivating and harvesting crops.  They herded cattle in the evolving traditions of the Westerner. Then horses delivered the crops to market.  

 

           In your tour through the barn you’ll learn about the functions of barns, horse power, early farming, and how mechanization made the business of agriculture the largest economic driver in the state.  You’ll see photos of the largest horse drawn agricultural machines in existence.  In California we did it bigger and better.
